F&ES teams rush to spot, contain blaze

Srinagar, Sep 13 (KNO): A fire broke out in the Pamposh Colony area of Palpora Noor Bagh in Srinagar on Saturday evening, damaging a few residential structures, officials said.

 

They said personnel of Fire and Emergency Services responded soon to contain the blaze, preventing further loss.

 

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that fire tenders reached the scene after receiving the initial fire call.

 

The official said additional trucks from the Fire and Emergency Headquarters were mobilised to assist. “Three to four residential sheds and one single-storey house were involved in the fire, while the situation was brought under control within half an hour,” he said.

 

Moreover, locals rushed to assist in controlling the fire . Abdul Rashid, a resident of the colony, said they saw thick smoke rising suddenly and feared the worst. “Thanks to the fast action of the fire teams, the fire did not spread further,” he said.

 

Shabir Ahmad, another local, added the fire caused panic among families in the neighbourhood, but thankfully, no one was injured. “We hope authorities provide support to those affected,” he added.

 

The exact extent of the damage is still being assessed, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire. Officials have also urged residents to remain vigilant and follow safety measures—(KNO)
