Kulgam, July 8: Pursuant to the directions of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the 5th District Coordination Committee meeting for strengthening judicial infrastructure and improving the justice delivery system was held in Kulgam on July 8.
The meeting was chaired by Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kulgam, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, who is also the Chairman of the District Coordination Committee. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kulgam, who serves as the Committee’s Secretary, coordinated the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Executive Engineers of R&B, KPDCL and Jal Shakti departments, besides the Tehsildar Kulgam.
A detailed discussion was held on various infrastructure-related issues concerning the existing and upcoming court complexes. Key matters included repairs and electrification of courtrooms and judicial chambers, development of residential quarters for judicial officers, blacktopping of the parking area near the NIA Court, security arrangements at newly allotted residential quarters in Lirrow, provision of furniture, improved parking facilities, uninterrupted drinking water and electricity supply, installation of ATM facilities, digital infrastructure, sanitation, and barrier-free access for persons with disabilities.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman Aijaz Ahmed Khan stressed that strong judicial infrastructure is essential for ensuring speedy, efficient and citizen-centric justice delivery. He directed all concerned departments to expedite ongoing works, remove bottlenecks and complete pending projects within the stipulated timelines.
The committee also deliberated on the maintenance of court buildings, installation of CCTV cameras, strengthening internet connectivity, and creation of separate waiting areas for litigants, advocates and witnesses. Representatives of the concerned departments assured full cooperation and committed to extending all necessary support for the timely completion of the identified works.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to regularly monitor the implementation of the decisions taken and review progress in the next coordination meeting to ensure effective justice delivery across District Kulgam.
