MLA Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar, on Saturday evening visited Warpora, Watlab Ghat, and adjoining areas to take firsthand stock of the rising water levels in Wular Lake. The visit came in the wake of growing con*cerns among residents over the potential impact of increasing water levels on nearby habitations and farmlands.
During the inspection, the MLA interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances, and assessed the on-ground situation. People apprised him of the difficulties they are facing due to the rising water levels, particularly fears of inundation and damage to crops.
Assuring the people of his full support, Irshad Rasool Kar said that necessary steps would be taken in coordination with the concerned departments to mitigate risks and safeguard both lives and livelihoods. He stressed that the administration stands committed to addressing the challenges posed by fluctuating water levels in the Wular region.
Locals welcomed the MLA’s visit and expressed hope that their issues would be addressed on priority.
