Srinagar, Mar 03: National Loktantrik Party (NLP) Chief Spokesperson Mohammad Yaqoob Dunoo has strongly criticized senior National Conference (NC) leader Mubarak Gul for demanding free transportation and medical services for former legislators of Jammu and Kashmir.
In an statement issued here National Loktantrik Party Chief Spokesperson Mohammad Yaqoob Dunoo accused NC’s Mubarak Gul of prioritizing personal benefits over public welfare. “It is unfortunate that a leader elected by the people to address their grievances is instead advocating for his own privileges. He should be working for the welfare of the people, not seeking personal benefits,” Dunoo stated.
The NLP spokesperson further condemned the demand, calling it an insult to the common citizens who struggle with inadequate healthcare, unemployment, and rising living costs. “Former legislators have already enjoyed numerous benefits during their tenure. Public funds should be used for improving essential services for the people, not to extend unnecessary perks to politicians,” he added.
Yaqoob Dunoo urged leaders to focus on real issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir instead of using their positions to secure lifelong privileges. He reaffirmed NLP’s commitment to fighting for the rights and welfare of the common citizens rather than catering to the personal interests of politicians.
The statement has sparked a debate over the accountability of elected representatives and their responsibility to serve the public rather than themselves.
