Sopore, Feb 28:- The residents of New Colony in Sopore town have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the authorities as they continue to suffer from severe waterlogging caused by recent snowfall and rainfall. The stagnant water has led to major disruptions in daily life, sparking frustration among locals who demand immediate action.

In response to the situation, Tehsildar Sopore, Sheikh Tariq, and Executive Officer (EO) of the Municipal Committee (MC) Sopore, Showkat Ahmed, visited the affected area along with municipal employees. To address the crisis, they initiated dewatering efforts using fire tender vehicles.

Speaking to the media, EO MC Sopore, Showkat Ahmed, stated, “As you know, snowfall and rainfall have continued since yesterday, leading to waterlogging in several parts of Sopore town. However, from this morning, our teams and machinery have been on the ground, working to drain the water, and traffic movement is being managed.”

Despite the authorities’ response, residents are urging for long-term drainage solutions to prevent recurring issues and ensure a better living environment.
