Srinagar, Feb, 17: A fresh Western Disturbance is expected to hit Jammu and Kashmir on February 20, bringing widespread rain and snow. The disturbance will develop over Afghanistan on February 19 and move towards Jammu and Kashmir. Higher reaches will experience the first signs of the disturbance from late night on February 19, with precipitation intensifying as it spreads.
Most parts of Jammu and Kashmir will witness moderate rain/snow, with some areas experiencing heavy precipitation. Jammu region may record higher precipitation amounts than Kashmir Valley. Temperatures will drop below 7°C on February 20. The Pir Panjal range will receive heavy snowfall. Weather conditions are expected to improve from February 21 onwards.
