Srinagar, Feb 9: Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified their crackdown on the misuse of SIM cards, particularly in connection with terrorist activities and organized crime.
According to a police handout, inspections were conducted across multiple districts, including Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, and Kishtwar, to ensure strict compliance with KYC norms by SIM card vendors. Over the past year, more than 30 individuals have been arrested for allegedly procuring SIM cards and passing them on to terrorists for unlawful activities.
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) and district police units are taking strict measures to curb such practices. Authorities have warned of severe legal consequences for individuals facilitating the illegal use of SIM cards.
