In a recent statement, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed concerns surrounding the proposed establishment of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Pulwama. Responding to opposition from certain local groups, the CM assured that the government remains committed to development while respecting public sentiment.
“If the people of Pulwama oppose the NIT project, we will consider an alternative location. Development should align with the aspirations of the community,” said Abdullah.
The proposed NIT has been envisioned to boost education and infrastructure in the region, but resistance has surfaced over fears of land acquisition and other socio-political factors. The government is expected to initiate dialogues with stakeholders to resolve the issue amicably.
This statement reflects the administration’s flexibility and prioritization of community consensus in executing developmental projects.
