Baramulla, ; In a landmark achievement for women\u2019s sports in the Union Territory, a team of cyclists from Baramulla district delivered a series of commendable performances at the Khelo India Asmita Women\u2019s League, held in Kurukshetra, Haryana, on January 10\u201311, 2026.<\/p>\n

This marks the first time that Jammu & Kashmir has been represented in the prestigious national women\u2019s cycling competition, with the entire contingent hailing from Baramulla.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ulfat Mushtaq led the team with a 10th-place finish in the 30 km Time Trial and 11th in the 60 km Mass Start. Mehak Mushtaq placed 12th in the Time Trial and, demonstrating notable resilience, completed the Mass Start in 13th place despite a crash during the race.<\/p>\n

Sofia Hilal and Sobiya Manzoor achieved strong finishes at 7th and 8th positions respectively, while Hoor-i-ein Lone secured 16th place, rounding out a collective effort that has brought recognition to the region\u2019s rising athletic talent.<\/p>\n

In a joint statement, the cyclists expressed gratitude for the support that enabled their participation. They extended thanks to their families and coaches for their encouragement and sacrifices, and particularly acknowledged Md Muzaffar Malla, President of the Sports Career Association Sopore, for his guidance and belief in their abilities.<\/p>\n
