Srinagar, Sep 3 (KNC): In light of continuous rainfall and rising water levels in various rivers across Jammu and Kashmir, the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department has issued an urgent directive for all officers assigned flood duties to report to their posts immediately.<\/p>\n

An official from the irrigation and flood control told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that, “All the officers assigned flood duties to immediately report on duties,” he said.<\/p>\n

Official further said that all teams are on alert and the situation is being monitored.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The directive comes as the region continues to experience a critical flood situation, with the Chenab River at Akhnoor crossing the evacuation mark and the Tawi in Udhampur surging to dangerous levels.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has also been suspended and schools across Jammu and Kashmir have been closed due to the inclement weather.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The I&FC department is coordinating with other agencies, including the Indian Army and civil administration, to monitor the situation and carry out rescue and relief operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
