Srinagar, August 13: Dhakair Peak, also known as Pir Tikyar (4,660m), stands tall in the Pir Panjal range within Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary, an undocumented summit in Kashmir\u2019s rugged heart. On August 7, 2025, a team led by 19-year-old Kashmiri alpinist Yasir Khan, alongside Shaqib Shafi and Muzakir, completed its first documented ascent, pioneering a new alpine ridge route.<\/p>\n
The expedition began on August 5, 2025, with the team crossing Nanga Pahad and Handu Sar Pass. On August 6, they set up base camp at Beliyan Sar 2 Lake. At 5:08 AM on August 7, they launched their summit push, navigating a sharp, exposed alpine ridge. After a two-hour scramble to a col, they climbed 260m of solid rock, dodging continuous rockfall, to reach the summit at 10:24 AM. The team spent an hour atop, absorbing the Pir Panjal\u2019s vast vistas.<\/p>\n

Their descent to Dhakair Sar Lake, guided by prior map study, involved a 150m rappel down a 70-80\u00b0 slope, saving critical time. On August 8-9, they trekked via Bhagsar Pass, exploring Hirpora\u2019s alpine lakes and made there way back to peer ki gali.<\/p>\n
