Budgam, July 25, KNT: Amid intensified operations to curb illegal mining across Jammu and Kashmir, a controversy has erupted in Budgam after a local youth accused officials from the Department of Geology and Mining of damaging his vehicle during an enforcement drive. The youth alleged that his tripper, used for transporting minerals, was mishandled by the officials, resulting in financial loss.<\/p>\n

However, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Budgam has categorically denied the allegations, calling them \u201cbaseless and misleading.\u201d While talking to the media, the officer clarified that the department\u2019s enforcement team is strictly following legal protocols in its efforts to control the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals in the district.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll enforcement actions are taken in accordance with the rules laid down under the Mining Act. At no point has any vehicle been deliberately damaged or mishandled,\u201d the DMO said, stressing that the department is committed to acting transparently and within the law.<\/p>\n

The official added that the ongoing crackdown is aimed at safeguarding the region\u2019s natural resources and protecting government revenue from being lost to illegal activities. He urged transporters and miners to adhere to legal guidelines while assuring that the department remains open to reviewing any genuine grievances through proper channels.
