Large potholes, eroded edges, and water accumulation have rendered the road nearly unmotorable, particularly during rains.

Residents said the prolonged neglect has disrupted transport, damaged vehicles, and made it difficult for patients, students, and the elderly to travel safely.

Officials in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department told JKNS that restoration work is currently underway but cited lack of NOC from the forest department a hurdle.

“Budget allocations for this project have been made over the years, but they lapse due to the absence of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Forest Department,” the officials said.

Residents have urged authorities to treat the matter as urgent. “This is not just a road, it’s a lifeline for several villages.
