According to officials, Police Station Bandipora received a complaint from a shopkeeper, Nazir Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Sadeeq Mir, a resident of Ward No. 4, Bandipora. Mir, who runs a copper shop at Gulshan Chowk Bandipora, reported that during the intervening night of March 25, 2025, unidentified thieves broke into his shop and stole approximately \u20b91,70,000.<\/p>\n

Acting swiftly, Bandipora Police registered FIR No. 51\/25 under Sections 303(2) and 332(c) of the BNSS at the local police station and launched an immediate investigation. Utilizing both technical and human intelligence, the police successfully tracked down and arrested the accused from Bemina, Srinagar.<\/p>\n

The accused has been identified as Imran Ahmad Sofi, son of Gh. Nabi Sofi, a resident of Rak Arath Dal Colony, Bemina, Srinagar. During questioning, Sofi disclosed information that led to the recovery of \u20b91,49,500 of the stolen amount. Additionally, the police seized a vehicle, bearing registration number JK05B-8805, which was used in the commission of the crime at Gulshan Chowk, Bandipora.<\/p>\n

Authorities have also initiated legal proceedings under Section 107 BNSS for the attachment, forfeiture, or restoration of property related to the case.<\/p>\n
