Inaugurated in 2013 by then-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the bridge was initially scheduled for completion by 2020. However, as of 2024, it still stands unfinished, causing significant inconvenience to the local population.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the media, a local resident expressed anguish, stating that the delayed project has severely impacted the region&#8217;s connectivity, especially between Zaingair, Bandipora, Sumbal, Hajin, and Hygam. The traffic bottleneck at Ningli, where motorists often face hours-long delays, has worsened the situation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We urge our newly elected Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, and our MLA, Irshad Rasool Kar, to prioritize this project and ensure its timely completion,&#8221; said a local resident. &#8220;This bridge will not only benefit Sopore but also improve access to nearby towns, easing daily commutes and reducing traffic congestion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another resident highlighted the economic and social impacts of the delay, stating, &#8220;The ongoing delay is causing immense inconvenience to everyone.&#8221; He stressed the urgent need for the bridge to alleviate the severe traffic issues in Sopore.<\/p>\n<p>Residents have renewed their appeal to the government to expedite the project and fulfill their long-standing demand for improved connectivity.
