Srinagar, Apr 22 (KB) : In the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that left 27 people dead, former Chief Minister and PDP Chairperson Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday urged people to observe a shutdown on Wednesday across Kashmir to protest the killing of innocent civilians.
Condemning the attack, Mufti said, “Whoever kills an innocent soul…it is as if he had slain mankind entire,” quoting the Quran to denounce the violence.
The Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has in the meantime also called for a valley-wide bandh on Wednesday, expressing shock and grief over the attack on tourists.
The Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), a leading religious body, and MPL Board headed by Grand Mufti Nasir ul Islam on the other hand have also backed the shutdown call and urged people to observe the day with solemnity and reflection.
Widespread condemnation has poured in from across the political and civil spectrum as Kashmir endures one of the deadliest attacks in recent years. (KB)
